MEET THE PRINCIPAL

We believe that knowing who is advising you matters — here is more about the Principal who will personally be involved in your matter.

KRISTEL HIKU

KHH & Associates Lawyers was founded in 2024 by Principal, Kristel Hiku — a legal advisor in commercial contracts with more than 16 years of experience across financial services and general commercial sectors.

Kristel’s experience includes in-house roles within major Australian banks and regulatory environments, as well as contract positions with top-tier law firms supporting institutional and corporate clients. Over the course of her career, she has managed high-volume commercial contract portfolios, worked within complex regulatory frameworks in highly regulated environments.

She is particularly recognised for her ability to organise and simplify multifaceted legal and regulatory matters — translating complexity into clear, implementable outcomes that businesses can confidently act upon. Her approach combines technical precision with commercial awareness, ensuring advice is practical, proportionate and aligned with each client’s operational realities.

Through KHH & Associates Lawyers, Kristel brings the same rigour and structured standards typically found in large institutions directly to SMEs — delivering accessible, senior-level expertise without unnecessary complexity.

For Kristel, the client relationship is as important as the legal advice itself. Every engagement is handled with responsiveness, clarity and a commitment to delivering reliable outcomes within agreed timeframes.

Our Mission

At KHH & Associates Lawyers, our mission is to deliver specialist commercial contracts legal advice that genuinely protects the interests of Australian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), limits their liability exposure, and supports their long-term growth. We are committed to providing practical, high value, legal solutions that are grounded in common sense and commercial reality — cutting through complexity to deliver clear, implementable advice without lengthy processes. For us, the client relationship is as important as the legal advice itself, and we hold ourselves to the highest standard on both, for every SME we serve.

Our Vision

Our vision is to become the trusted legal commercial contracts partner of choice for Small and Medium Enterprises across Australia. We are passionate about bringing the same high standard of practical, strategic expertise — previously reserved for large institutions — directly to the businesses that need it most. We believe that clear, implementable commercial contracts legal advice and a positive client experience can make the greatest difference to business owners — helping them protect their interests, operate with confidence, and focus on what matters most: avoiding liability and growing their business.

WHO WE SERVE

We primarily support SMEs operating contract-driven industries, where commercial risk must be managed carefully and swift turn-around times are necessary. Our advice is structured, practical and tailored to your environment — protecting your business while supporting confident, sustainable growth.

Professional Services & Trades Businesses

We support SMEs operating in professional services and trades that:

  • Generate regular high-volume commercial contract work outside of project-specific building contracts
  • Have limited internal legal resources
  • Require assistance with their day-to-day contracts including supplier agreements, service agreements, referral arrangements, tenders, terms of trade, and the like

Typical clients include:

  • Financial services operators
  • Trade businesses and commercial cleaning companies
  • Property & facilities management companies
  • Owners Corporation managed properties
  • Growing companies entering significant commercial agreements

These businesses need efficient, commercially focused contracts support to avoid contract disputes, contractual risks, liabilities and litigation. We specialise in providing that support by way of personalised Principal-level attention in commercially grounded solutions that minimise liability and support reliable, profitable operations.

Top-Tier Multinational Law Firms

We also provide flexible, high-quality resourcing support to top-tier multinational law firms requiring additional capacity for complex, high-volume commercial contracts and associated projects for their large multi-national clients.

These firms often require specialist support for:

  • Large-scale commercial contract drafting, review and negotiation
  • Managing tight deadlines and large client portfolios without expanding permanent headcount

We deliver precise, efficient and commercially rigorous support, drawing on the same high standards and practical insight applied across all our work. Our approach ensures seamless collaboration and technically strong contributions to institutional and corporate matters.
